Cortela Carbon connects you with practical solutions by providing valuable insight into product selection and the diagnosis of technical problems.
What are the particular operating conditions inside your motor or generator brush chamber like? How do these conditions affect the performance of carbon brushes, brush holders, insulators and any other items within that chamber? How do you know if there is a problem?
There are many factors that influence carbon brush performance, some of which can be easily measured and observed. Cortela Carbon promotes and installs monitoring devices into the brush chamber of your motor or generator, which record the temperature and humidity within that chamber. These are two of the more common factors that can affect brush performance. The monitoring devices can be preset to a sample rate determined by you, and then left installed for weeks or months - again it is up to you. The gathered data is then simply downloaded for analysis and reporting. The timeline data is then compared against operational and environmental parameters to identify and address any concerns.
Different areas of monitoring include:
• Temperature
• Humidity
• Overloads
• Light loads
• Environment
